Seven Months!

Rachel, you are seven months old already!
How did THAT happen?!?!?

You are now moving to size 2 diapers, your 0-6 month socks are too small and so are your 3-6 month sleepers. The move to solidly 6 month or 6-12 month clothes is coming faster than Mommy is ready for! You weighed 14 lbs, 1/2 oz this month and you are 25 3/4" long. You have grown!
We started you on solid foods and at first you weren't too sure. You would push them out of your mouth with your tongue. But you have taken to eating with a vengeance! When it gets time to eat you start to fuss and get frantic until we feed you. The funny thing is that as soon as we have food ready you stop fussing and close your mouth! Ha ha ha!!! And you don't open your mouth well to eat. But once the food is in, watch out. Yesterday for lunch you ate four ice cubes of food!

You have eaten bananas, applesauce, rice cereal, pears, peaches, squash, sweet potatoes, beans, chickpeas, prunes and egg yolks so far. You HATED carrots. You coughed and gagged and spit them out. Then you threw up so we have taken a break from them for awhile. But everything else you love. Except for chickpeas, which you tolerate. I think sweet potatoes are your favourite food so far :) You keep Mommy and the Magic Bullet busy making all this food!

You still aren't sleeping great although you are sleeping mostly in your bassinet again. We said good-bye to the Moses Basket this month and now you are sleeping in a bassinet from Auntie Sheri. At first you weren't so happy about not sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's bed but now you are more used to it. Although you don't go down without about five minutes of crying. Mommy and Daddy both wish we could skip THAT part, thank you very much! And you still aren't sleeping in super-long stretches, usually only about two and a half to three hours. But it's better than nothing :) And your first nap of the day is still about two hours after you wake up. Your afternoon nap is unpredictable but it's still usually only about an hour. I guess you just don't need much sleep :)

Your poop has changed since you started on solids, which makes sense. For awhile it was rough going but I think we have it figured out now. Prunes seem to be the answer! It hurt Mommy's heart to here you cry when you were not having an easy time of it :(

You nurse okay but are still pretty distracted. It's amazing how quickly you went from needing to nurse a lot to seeming to want solids more. But we're still keeping up the nursing as much as we can. You just like to look around and see what's going on more than you like nursing.

You are such an extrovert. You LOVE being around people and watching them. You fuss when everyone leaves the room and you are by yourself. When you get into the right mindset you talk and Talk and TALK!!! You really like to be loud and you are very intense about it :) You don't say any discernible consonants yet although Mommy and Daddy keep saying, "Ma-ma" and "Da-da" to you.

You still scratch on everything. It's pretty cute! I think it's how you are figuring out your world. And you are also getting pretty close to sitting, I think. We'll see how soon you get that figured out. You launched yourself out of your bouncy seat this month (thankfully you were strapped in) and so we watch you pretty closely in there now :) You just like to look at everything, especially what is going on behind you! So you arch your back and strain to see.

You and Sam have the best relationship. He often brings you toys, can cheer you up effortlessly and reads to you. It is so adorable! In fact, over the holidays when we spent a lot of time in the car, when you were fussy, Daddy and I would try to sing to you, and then Sam would say, "Let me sing" and you quieted right down. Yay! And often, when you are straining to see behind you, it is Sam who you want to see. You watch him all the time.

Well I think that's it for this month. Happy Seven Month Birthday Miss Rachel! We love you.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
