The Post With No Point

This post doesn't really have a point. It's just a chance to share some pictures, a piece of news, and keep my mom from calling me to find out if we're okay (Just kidding Mom! I love that you read every day.)

Last week Sam was sick for a few days. It was nothing major -- he just threw up one day and had a slight fever the next. However, that meant we didn't make it to many swimming and tennis lessons last week. Okay, we made it to one.

By Friday I was going a little insane so I decided to celebrate the First Day Of August by making a summer wreath. Okay, I was more than a little late to the party but, having already found the idea on Pinterest, and bought the supplies a few weeks ago, I ended up with this. It's fun, colourful, and festive -- all things I think a summer wreath should be! And best of all it cost less than $10. That's a win in my book.
Also, last week I started a new job. Major exciting times, I tell you! To make a long story short, I like to price match from our weekly flyers, but ever since we've moved to Ontario, we've ended up on routes where the flyers don't get delivered consistently. So I ended up taking over the route for our house. Since I always wanted to deliver newspapers as a kid, which my parents thought was impractical since we lived in the country, I feel like this is a chance for my childhood dream to come true. So not only do I get to save money (because we'll get our flyers every week), but I also get paid to do it.
Thus far I have only done it three times and it is quite the spectacle. Sam LOVES helping and walks along yelling, "Flyer delivery! Flyer delivery!" which I'm sure isn't at all annoying. Rachel has managed to skin her knee once and screamed as though the world was ending, which I'm sure wasn't at all annoying. And I'm making about $3 an hour so I'm really raking in the cash. World tour, here I come.

On Saturday Janice and her mom took me and another friend out for High Tea. I already posted a picture of my scone with cream and jam in my Project 364 post on Sunday, but here are a few more pictures. The sandwiches were just as amazing as the scone and I was thrilled to be able to take home some leftovers to eat on Sunday.
And the four of us talked about having tea together more often, hosting it ourselves. So if you don't hear from me, I will likely be scouring the Internet Pinterest (who am I kidding???) for beautiful ways to host tea or delicious recipes to try out. Sounds like a good time to me!
Since Rachel was sick on Monday, and yesterday rained, we haven't had much pool time this week either. I'm hoping we'll make it today so I should go eat some breakfast. Or do dishes. Or start packing for the beach. We leave on Sunday for a week and I can't wait!

Happy Wednesday friends!

  4. Fun wreath and fun job! I started a neighborhood newspaper as a kid, and part of the fun was delivering it door-to-door. :)

  5. Okay so your "pointless" post actually had many good points. I think a title change is in order. Haha! Your wreath is super cute and fun. I saw that one on Pinterest (maybe on your boards) and liked it. It turned out great. I also like your little delivery route job and that you have such enthusiastic helpers. I grew up in the country so I missed such opportunities as well. And seriously, when you come here, we seriously must go out for tea. If I am able to travel to meet you, we can meet up somewhere at the coast because that is the only tea houses that I know of. There are probably some good ones in Charleston, and I know of the one we have been to in lower part of the NC beaches close to the SC line. I was also totally looking forward to our upcoming beach trip since that is our only beach trip this summer but now Eddie will not be home to go with us. A beach trip by myself with two kids does not sound that fun. Sigh. Luckily, Eddie's family will be with us a few days.

  7. I love your wreath! It just makes me think of lounging on a island in the summertime with a fruity drink in my hand. Definitely a fun thing to be reminded of daily!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
