Today I'm sharing about the rest of our March Break travels. Even though we were heading home, and a little sad about it, we still had a few adventures left to experience.
The kids loved looking for the Buc-ees signs and, of course, stopping at their locations. We were fortunate enough to be able to stop at two of them. We drove all day from Orlando and that night we ended up at Erika and Matt's in Georgia!!!
This was the second time we got to hang out with Matt & Erika! You can read about the first time
here. Even though this was a super short visit, we had so much fun!
And the kids had a blast playing with each other! Sadly, we couldn't hang out with Matt & Erika and their family for an entire week, so eventually, we were on our way again.
We drove through Tennessee, which I'd never been to before, and into Kentucky, which I'd also never been to.
As we hit Kentucky, Rachel asked, "Can we go to the first KFC?" and I commented, "It might not even be in Kentucky Rachel, that's a bit of a stretch." However, not ten minutes later we passed a sign for the "World's First Kentucky Fried Chicken" so of course, we had to stop!
It was both a restaurant and a museum so we had fun looking around, and learning about both Colonel Sanders and KFC.
I even ate a very small piece of popcorn chicken so I can say I ate at the world's first KFC. It really was a tiny, minuscule piece for this vegetarian :)
And with continuing views like this, mixed in with a bit of sleet/snow to remind us we were driving back to winter, we headed back home.
We had such a fun March Break road trip. The one thing we decided was that it was just a little bit too busy as we didn't stay in one spot for more than two nights. But we sure were able to connect with a lot of friends, enjoy parts of the US we hadn't experienced before, and enjoy some really fun experiences!
That's funny about the first KFC!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! You can tell the kids have grown since March!
ReplyDeleteSo fun. I just love road trips! Half of the adventure is the travel to the destination and memories your kids will always have!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to check out the very first KFC! It sounds like one really awesome road trip.
