Week 22: One Thing I've Never Done That Most People Have

This is another writing challenge I didn't know what to do with. I have to admit, it would have been easier to write if it had been things I've done which most people haven't :) However, I was talking with Dave and Donny a couple of months ago and they were helping me think of things. And we came up with this:

I have never gotten pulled over by the cops or gotten any kind of a ticket -- a parking ticket or a speeding ticket.
Even when I was driving in New Zealand, on the opposite side of the road, and had no clue what I was doing, I didn't get pulled over! Ha!

So maybe this isn't a huge deal, and none of you have ever gotten pulled over either, but I like my clean record and hope to keep it that way.

One thing to note, however, is that I didn't get my drivers license until I was 35 so I haven't had as long to get pulled over as some other people may have.

And if I'd written this post eight years ago, I could say that I'd never driven in a car by myself!

  1. I was able to say this until I started work post-college and then multiple 1.5 hour commutes turned my squeaky clean record into a black hole of speeding tickets. Whoops.

  2. 35? Did you just bike everywhere? Then again, this could be a whole other blog post...lol! :)

  3. I'm with Kelly, you need to write a not driving until you were 35 post. =)

  4. I have a clean record... in Canada! haha. I've never been pulled over in any country but got caught by photo radar twice in NZ... one of them for only going 107km/hr in a 100. I couldn't believe it!

And I agree... how did you survive so long without a license?!

  5. Yes, let's hear more about the 35! I wish I had a clean record, but I've been pulled over a time or two...or three...or four. ;)

  6. Lucky you! :-P But I blame some very long commute during my school and early career days. I had to drive over an hour each way to work in Virginia during our early years of marriage so I got a couple of tickets and had an accident. The good news is that my driving record has been clean since 2006! Yippee! Oh, except that bogus parking ticket you may recall from our little adventure in downtown Raleigh. Hehe! I mean, seriously, they measure how far you are from the curb??? I have a not very nice word for cops like those. ;-)

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
