Stop The World, I Want To Get Off

I feel like I haven't had good energy for blogging lately. I also haven't had time for blogging, but that's a whole different ballgame. (Or should I say, "blog game?" Ha ha ha.) For some reason, for about the past four weeks I have felt like a hamster running on one of those wheels. I'm going as fast as I can and I'm not getting anywhere. I'm using up a ton of energy and not showing anything for it. I need a vacation break. I wrote "vacation" first but we're getting a small one this weekend, and honestly, that's not really what I need. I need a quiet weekend at home with no plans.

The kids are feeling it too. Sam had a minor meltdown about going to school this morning, but it just didn't work for him to stay home today. Rachel had four minor meltdowns this morning too, but since she's turned three, that's not unusual. (Sidenote: Age three is going to be my undoing. I vaguely remember feeling like this with Sam too, so thankfully, I think the worst of it gets erased from our memories.)

It doesn't help that I've been fighting a cold for the past week. Yuck. Why does sickness always hit at the Worst. Time. Possible? I couldn't even go to my ballet class last week, so I have no updates about "dying swans" to share with you. Sadness :(

I feel like we're getting through one or two days at a time, and we keep thinking, "Once we're through this, life should slow down." But then it doesn't.

And now that you've read all this, you're thinking to yourself, "Wow, I'm glad Natasha hasn't been blogging lately!" :) Or you're thinking, "I know exactly how you're feeling." I've noticed that a lot of the blogs I follow have been light on posting lately. I really hope this doesn't mean that blogs are slowly dying. I don't want to stop blogging. I don't want all of you to stop blogging. I'm hoping this just means that we're all in it together this fall.

I really hope I'll be back to regular blogging (and blog reading and commenting) soon. I hope my positive, healthy self will be back soon. I miss all of these things.

Until then, I have dishes to do, laundry to wash, and a vacation to pack for. Wondering where we're headed? Well, a visit to here is definitely on the list of "Things To Do!" (And Dave gets the "Most Amazing Husband Ever Award" for finding out about it in the first place and surprising me with a "Guess where we're going?" conversation. I had no idea that it even existed.) We'll also be spending some time with Dave's grandpa, who turned 96 in September. Oh, and we're driving, so please pray that we will all survive two days of driving togetherness. Family bonding time here we come. Yay?

  1. Oh Natasha! I'm right there with you! I want to blog and I love reading everyone's blogs, but it's been a challenge lately. I feel like we are so busy all of the time. We'll find time though, right?

  2. This accurately sums up my sentiments! And I felt like Sam this morning only I had a meeting that I couldn't miss. So now it's 6:45pm and Ive been in bed since got home at 530... and after a month of having a cold I can't shake I now have a fever and feel awful. And I mostly just keep thinking to myself - is it November yet? Surely things will be more calm in November! I can hope...

I'm also dying to know where you are going!!!

    1. Well, since I'm so behind on responding to blog comments, it is now mid-November and I am wondering if life is better for you??? Being sick is no fun.

Also, I think life might be a bit better if we were all able to have "minor meltdowns" once in a while and get it all out of our system!

  3. You're going to NY?? Am I right? I would have assumed Athens except that I haven't heard of any Central Perk coffee shops here... :)

  4. Now this is the real comraderie of blogging... We all seem to be facing the same crazy busyness of life. I am glad to know I am not the only one. I actually may be getting a slower quiet weekend because Eddie and Evan will be camping with his boy scout troop. I haven't even blogged about any of that! Sigh. We have been busy getting my dad settled in at our house the past couple of weeks which required some serious cleaning out and rearranging. He will be in Indiana for the next couple of weeks though so I hope I can start catching up. I have also begun to feel the effects of allergy/cold season too which seriously depletes my energy level. Brody started running a fever yesterday after preschool. His class seems to have been hit hard with croup and he has been coughing and losing his voice. Just yuck yuck yuck. Where is the fun of fall?

  5. Well it's okay to go light on blogging, but don't you quit!!! I understand (in my own kidless way) your need for the world to stop for a minute! Feel the pain!!! Hope you feel better soon and that you get your low-key weekend!!! Hugs to you!!!

    1. I'm so sorry I gave everyone the impression that I might quit blogging. That is not even on my radar yet. And thank you so much for the hugs. I can use all the hugs I can get!

  6. Please hang in there. I love your blog so much.
We sort of have the opposite problem...nothing to do and a toddler who tries to run out in traffic if I'm brave enough to go somewhere. I might have to just fork over some money and get him in a gymnastics or soccer program. I've held off long enough, and I think it would be good for all of us.

  8. I definitely feel like I've been a little blogging-lite lately. But it just seems like I have so much I need to do, that's it hard to fit it all in. I have a feeling that will only get worse as time goes on, but I can't ever see myself ending my blog, at least not anytime in the near future.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
