Lunch And Little Libraries

So as you may, or may not know, my friend Donny works for Google. And in case you don't know, Google takes good care of their employees. They feed them an amazing lunch every day. And they allow them to invite guests for lunch at Google. Today Donny graciously allowed my mom and dad, Dave, Rachel and me to come for lunch. We all had to print out guest passes and sign a confidentiality agreement stating that we wouldn't talk about what we'd seen. Or about any Google secrets we may have inadvertently picked up. Rachel was quite sad that Funny Bunny wasn't getting a name tag so Donny made one for him too. However, Funny Bunny also had to sign the confidentiality agreement so you won't get any information out of him either!
After we picked Sam up from school it was time to pick up our vegetables at our CSA. On the way home we stopped at one of the little libraries in our neighbourhood. The motto of this library is "Need a book, Take a book. Have a book, leave a book." Sam loves stopping at these things and getting books, when there are age appropriate ones for him to pick up. Today he got The Cloud Book by Tomie de Paola and a "Birds & Blooms" magazine, featuring nuthatches. Yes, my child is weird.

I love the idea of the little libraries, and that there are three that I know of in our neighbourhood. Dave and I may have to talk about putting one in our yard. Sam loves them so much and I love that he is excited about getting books. What cool things does your neighbourhood/city do which really appeals to you?

  2. I have seen little libraries like this in random places, and most recently I noticed there is a house in our neighborhood that has one in their front yard! I thought that was pretty cool (though I haven't really checked it out).

  3. I've never head of this "little libraries" concept, but I love it! I need to research around here and see if anyone is doing it. :-)

  5. We have little libraries here too. I'll have to donate some books there next week. : )

  6. I've heard about those little libraries and love the idea of them! I'm not sure how well they'd work in Louisiana with the amount of rain we get and the humidity, but would still love to have one nearby.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
