#AMonthofFaves On the Screen or in Your Ear

Today I'm, once again, linking up with Kim and Tanya at GirlXOXO (link here) and T of Traveling With T (link here) for #AMonthofFaves. We're talking about what we've watched/listened to this past year. If you've read my What's Up Wednesday posts (a monthly link up I participate in) at all, you'll know that I'm never really watching, or listening to, much of anything... normal, shall we say. I'm always watching grass grow, the leaves change, piles of schoolwork grow, or the kids at the pool. In terms of listening it's been tires on the road (during our road trip), the construction down the street, or Rachel singing. So I'm going to do my best with this one...

First of all, Dave and I talked about it and I don't think we saw a single movie in theatres this year. Yep, we are those people. Yikes. However, we did see some good musicals which I'll share here.

In early January we took a trip to New York City and we gave Rachel the Frozen musical on Broadway as her Christmas gift. However, we all got to take advantage of her gift :) It was AMAZING!!! I thought it would be entertaining for Rachel and just okay for Dave and I. I was wrong. I cried, it was so good.
For Sam's birthday, we took him and a good friend to see The Lightning Thief musical in Toronto. It was much more campy and Dave and I didn't love it. Sam, however, thought it was "okay, I guess. It could have been better." However, he thought it was better than Frozen. Ha!
In May, Dave and I went to see Come From Away in Toronto. I LOVED IT!!! I would go see it every week if I could. If you have a chance to see this musical, DO IT. I just loved everything about it.

After seeing Come From Away, I listened to the soundtrack 24/7 for about a month. That soundtrack is just incredible.

In terms of what we've been listening to, besides Come From Away, I would say the prevalent music of this year has been Imagine Dragons. Sam discovered his love for them and shared it will all the rest of us. Whenever I hear an Imagine Dragons song, I will think of Sam in 2019.

Rachel's favourite songs are Rachel Platten, Stand By You, and Celine Dion's It's All Coming Back To Me Now. She also love Stan Rogers, Northwest Passage (which she calls "Hand of Franklin"). She may be influenced in her musical tastes by her parents. Hahaha!!!

I guess the other significant watching of 2019 is that Dave and I finally started watching Grey's Anatomy. We finished Season 2 in the summer and haven't gotten back into it yet but we tend to watch more in the winter. We get the DVDs from the library so we're a bit old school.

So that's been our media for the year. I warned you that we're super exciting! Ha!

  1. THREE musicals?!? And you were only trying to do your best with this one. Ha is right. Those all sound great and I'm glad you all loved them. Also a nice different take on the prompt that I doubt many others will take.

    1. Thank you for appreciating my take on this prompt :) And yes, I guess I hadn't added up that we were seeing three musicals. This was an unusual year in that regard though...

  3. Yes Rachel! That Celine song was and is still a favourite of mine too. Come from Away, the best!
I love movies and I think I only saw one in theatres this year, it's just not a priority for me.

  4. I have had a slow year with movies this year but am seeing my second musical tonight - Dear Evan Hansen - can't wait! And ditto on Imagine Dragons representing your son in 2019. Trent just discovered Eminem oops.

  6. I love plays/musicals (soooo much more so than movies) and am so jealous of your theater-filled year.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
