Why We Could Happily Live On A Cruise Ship!

I'm trying to get through these cruise recaps as quickly as possible because, as I've said before, I document our travels first and foremost for our family's memories, so I don't want to forget many things. But I also realize they get to be a lot of long blog posts to read. After this day, I only have two days left, and one of them will be a super short day. This was a great day though because it was another 'at sea' day, but without all the Marvel activity. Therefore, this day was a lot more chill.

Rachel had a very special character meeting lined up that morning, and on the way there, we ran into Donald. There was no line so Rachel decided to say, "Hi!" Donald interacted with Rachel for quite a bit and Rachel even shared her new Groot stuffed animal with him!
I think Disney characters do such a great job of interacting with people and making each person feel special.
Just a few pictures in, and through, a porthole. It was quite wavy this day although I didn't feel a lot more motion on the ship. Phew.
So Rachel decided this cruise that Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy was her absolute favourite character. But Groot is not one of the Marvel characters who is just randomly walking around on the ship. So you needed a special ticket to meet him. And we weren't able to get one. I stopped by Guest Services and said, "Groot is my daughter's favourite character and if, by chance, there happens to be an available ticket, could you please let us know?" Disney worked their magic and the previous night a ticket popped up in my app for Rachel. She was shocked! And thrilled!
She was also very tongue tied when she actually met Groot! Hahaha! She told me, "I was so nervous, Mom." But she got to meet him and get a picture with him and hug him so she was thrilled!!!
After all the excitement, Rachel went to Edge and Dave and I got coffee at the coffee bar. And we got special artwork. Sadly, Dave's artwork blew right off the top of his coffee when he stepped outside (and we laughed so hard at that!) but thankfully, mine stayed on so I could get a picture of it with the ocean in the background. I think the specialty artwork takes these drinks to an extra level of fun!
One of the things I wanted to do this day was get a family picture of all of us in our Marvel gear at one of the backdrops. Mission accomplished!
We also wanted to play mini golf. It was fun but so windy, Sam couldn't even wear his caps as they would have blown overboard. Then we played some family foosball which was also really fun!
I went on an Art of the Theme tour, which gives small details about the ship. I loved the Chihuly glass sculpture (meant to depict spaghetti and meatballs) in one of the specialty restaurants.
And I learned that the signal flags in the hall carpets spell out "Disney Dream" which was our ship. So many fun little details to learn about.
Another thing I wanted to do this day was eat ice cream as a family. We splurged on a sundae from Vanellope's and it was so good!
A beautiful sunset from Deck 4. Deck 4 has the walking track and, on our European cruise, Dave and I made a point to walk around Deck 4 every day. We called it, "Deck 4 4-ever!" so of course we had to "Deck 4 4-ever!" this cruise as well.
One of the things I learned about on the Art of the Theme tour was about "Pink," the champagne bar. I made Dave come with me to check it out. I loved it! I had an Elderbubble which was champagne, St Germain, and some other things. It was delicious!!!
And I loved all the details in Pink -- glass champagne "bubbles" on the wall, champagne flutes depicted in the lights, and more.
This night we ate at Royal Palace, which has the French inspired menu. I had escargots, French onion soup, and creme brulee! It was absolutely my favourite supper! So good!

The show we saw this night was Beauty and the Beast and it was very well done. We really enjoyed it. And then we went to bed somewhat early because the next day was Castaway Cay!!! We really do love a good day at sea. They are just so much fun!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
