We Had a MARVEL-lous Day

The first full day of our cruise was a "Marvel Day At Sea." There was Marvel music playing all day, there were Marvel movies being shown in the theatres and on the funnel vision, and there were character meetings galore. This was the first time we've ever taken a cruise with a theme and it was fun to experience.

I'm not normally a breakfast person but on cruises, I love them! I especially love the fried mushrooms, hash browns, and selections of fresh fruit.
I think I've mentioned this already but the kids weren't as excited about character meetings this time around but Dave and I wanted to meet a few. We stood in line to meet Captain America. He liked my ears :)
Taking a break to drink a Coke in my cruise cup from our first cruise and to show off my shirt and ears. Dave commented, "I think you're a bit over the top when it comes to Disney cruise wear and then we get on the cruise and I realize you're not!" Some families wore full costumes (and make up) all day. Rachel and I were very understated with our shirts and ears :)

My shirt was this one (in grey), Rachel's was this one (perfect for our Swiftie!!!), and our cruise ears were these (Rachel's) and these (mine). Dave's shirt was this one and Sam didn't want any Marvel gear -- although he did end up with Captain America's shield from the shop on the ship. And yes, he calls it "Captain SAMerica's shield." Teenager humour at it's finest :)

A quick photo op with Hawkeye and Kate Bishop (from a TV show, so we didn't really know who she was).
I've written before about the Diaper Dash -- a "race" for crawling babies on the ship. It was just as hilarious this time around. Rachel was watching it with us and she laughed so hard!!! Everyone's cheering and the babies are just sitting there, really confused, barely crawling!
This is the Midship Detective Agency I've talked about before. I did it two and a half times this day -- once with Rachel, once when Dave and I each worked on our own case, and once with Sam who completed about half a case before he wanted to do other things.
It looks like Dave and Rachel were interacting with Dr Strange here but he was signing an autograph for someone else as he walked by them and I happened to get a picture! Hahaha!
A few more Disney touches -- hidden Mickeys in the carpet outside the theatre (I think) and a vase on display outside the Enchanted Garden restaurant.
One of the Warriors of Wakana led a training session, but honestly, it was aimed at younger kids so we left to do something else.
Getting ready to solve a case with Captain SAMerica! Hahaha!
I'd never noticed that some of the elevators had a Mickey hand as the indicator for what floor the elevator was on.
An Iron Man themed brownie pictured with Rachel's Iron Man ears. The smallest details were Marvel themed this day.
Enjoying our Marvel Day at Sea in our Marvel attire!
Rachel was so excited to solve her case!!!
I was pretty excited to solve my case as well :)
We watched the Captain America USO Show in one of the pubs before dinner. If you've seen Captain America, you know what I'm talking about :) It was pretty fun!
Enjoying the sunset.
Around 7:30 there was a Mickey & Friends superheroes show which I decided to attend on my own as no one else in my family was interested.
There was a special Marvel themed menu, although I honestly can't remember what I ate this night. Except our dessert was a raspberry lemon tart and it was so good! We were hoping to catch the later Marvel show, which started at 10:15 but we were all exhausted, and we had an early morning the next day, so we headed off to bed instead and missed it.

So that was our Marvel Day At Sea. It was really fun but we probably would have enjoyed it more if we'd been bigger Marvel fans. I think our family would LOVE a Star Wars Day at Sea instead! But it was really fun to experience all the Disney detail on this unique day.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
