It's time for "10 on the 10th" but you don't get September's version yet, because first, I have to write about August's. Considering how badly 2022's "10 on the 10th" posts started (with my lung detachment in January), a lot of the rest of them have been pretty amazing. And this one was no exception.
We docked in Copenhagen, left the Disney Magic, caught a cab to the airport, and waited at the airport for our flight to London, England!!! I'm sad we didn't have any time in Copenhagen but when we planned this trip, we really wanted to cut down on the number of transitions, and trying to add one night in Copenhagen would have been really hard.
Honestly, the Copenhagen airport felt more like a shopping mall than an airport. There were lots of shops and hardly any gates. This pizza was really good!
These are the friends from the cruise we met in Bruges. We enjoyed spending time with them in Germany and ran into them at Lego House too. We were so happy to be on the same flight with them from Copenhagen to London. They were such a great family!
We landed in London, took a train, a tube, and the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) to get to the 100 year old barge where we stayed in London.
Sadly, the internet on the barge didn't work but we decided to try and find food, and as we stepped out of the barge, I asked a couple for directions. Their names were Dave and Emma and they kindly walked us about ten minutes all the way to the Tesco Express where we could pick up some things for supper. Honestly, Dave and Emma were so kind to do that and help out some lost, hungry, tired travellers.
A reminder that traffic in England moves opposite to what we're used to. We were super careful whenever we crossed the road.
Our barge was on the water in Canary Wharf. The location was amazing and I loved this picture of Sam and Rachel walking to it in the evening light.
Home Sweet Home
or
Barge, Sweet Barge?
It was such a unique AirBnB.
While the kitchen was very small (as is to be expected), it was nice to cook some things for ourselves after two and a half weeks. Sam, of course, jumped at the chance to make Mr Noodles.
So you may know that outlets in England look a little different. (See some examples
here.) Dave and I were looking for places to plug things in and Rachel announced, "There's a whole row by my bed." Dave and I laughed pretty hard and explained that while they looked close, they were actually just painted hinges.
So that was our "10 on the 10th" of arriving in London. Later this week I'll post my "10 on the 10th" for September but, be warned, it won't be nearly as exciting :)

Such a unique place to stay! I love that sunset picture!
ReplyDeleteLoved following along on your adventures this summer-thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool AirBnB!! Weird there were just random hinges on the wall. They do look like the European plugs for sure!
ReplyDeleteHow amazing to stay on a barge!! I cannot get over how much you did this trip!!
