Currently: March 2026

It's the first Wednesday in March and time for Currently. This blog party is hosted by Amy at Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa. You can find Amy here.

[saving your life right now]

What is "saving my life right now" are the construction lights we can plug in, especially in our bathroom. We still don't have the lights installed in the bathroom, powder room, kitchen, or most of the basement. I really think it will be one of the last things to get finished.

Another thing is that Rachel's dance is slowing down a bit. She doesn't have rehearsals every Sunday at this point and it's so helpful to have a bit more time together as a family.

And legit -- Dave being willing to dust the piano every day is "saving my life." People keep saying how amazing we're doing with living through our renovation but you all don't see/hear my daily meltdowns over all the dust! I am losing my mind and the fact that Dave is willing to dust the piano every day is so helpful. I don't mind sweeping the floors every day or wiping off the stove and dining room table but the piano is what sends me over the edge!

The piano was dusted 24 hours ago. Seriously.

[cleaning/purging]

As for "cleaning" right now we're dusting, sweeping, and wiping things down almost every day. Once we start unpacking I'm guessing we'll be "purging" a bit more. But for now, we're not purging anything. We did a lot of purging back in the fall as we prepared for this reno.

[loving]

I am "loving" the bits of the renovation which have been revealed to us. I am so excited about the back splash in our kitchen and I love my blue cupboards. I am especially "loving" my yellow tulips on our counters. I am also "loving" that our renovation might be done sooner than we thought! Eeeeks! I can't wait!!!

Oh, I'm also "loving" having a shower in our house again. It is such a treat to be able to shower whenever we want without having to plan ahead!!!

This was before we added the shower curtain and before the bathroom was painted.

[planning (trip wise)]

We are "planning" easy trips for this year! We were talking about doing a European vacation over March Break but ultimately decided on something simpler. I'm so thankful because this renovation has taken up all our energy and we need to relax on our trips this year. Our March Break trip is something we've never done with the kids before so I'm so curious to see how it works out. Fingers crossed we all love it!

[taking a break from (since it's Spring Break month)]

I'm so happy we're going to be "taking a break from" the cold weather. Our highs are all over freezing for the foreseeable future and I can't wait!!! It's been a long, cold, snowy, winter around here. I'm also looking forward to "taking a break from" shovelling snow! The only precipitation in the seven day forecast is rain and I am so here for it!!! Whoo hoo spring!!!

Well, this ended up being a very renovation focused "currently" but that is an accurate picture of our lives these days. By next month's "currently" I will hopefully be able to focus more on spring and other exciting things will be happening in our lives but for now, we'll keep dusting! Hahaha!

  1. "A treat to shower whenever you want without having to plan!" LOL! We would like to do a bathroom reno but it's honestly the thought of not having the bathroom for weeks which is making me hesitate. Maybe your reno will make me push the go button? (But then I read the sentence about planning showers and I'm like, no!) Anyway, your house events all sound exciting except for the dust!!

  3. You are scaring me! We are going to be doing some projects this year - I hope - I keep waiting on hub to get this started - and I am dreading the dust so much. What you have completed looks amazing and after it's all worth it.
I think you would have lost your mind with a big trip right now. I get it! Thanks for linking up!

  5. Wow, the kitchen looks great already. Great news about being able to take showers. At least your husband is dusting the piano and great news about being ahead of schedule with the renno. I am so looking forward to spring weather too. It's been a cold and snowy winter for us too.

  6. When we built our house we left the construction lights up in our basement for something crazy like 5 years! It was just so much easier since we took forever to decide how we wanted the basement to look. I hate to tell you but that dust will keep showing up for many months... it feels endless at times. I don't know if it's that it gets stuck in the duct work for the heating or what but I swear I was finding sheetrock dust for ages. It won't be as thick or as bad but it doesn't just magically go away when construction ends.

  7. I'm here for the sweet dust note and the tulips :-) Dust during construction is unreal. I know you'll be excited to have everything not gritty anymore!

  8. I think I comment this every time, but I seriously love, love, love the kitchen backsplash. Also thinking back to our cabinets vs. cupboard conversation - I still think cabinets is right. ;)

  9. All the dust would get on my nerves too - how nice of Dave to look after dusting the piano if that's the thing that really bugs you. I was just saying to my hubby earlier this evening that I've neglected dusting my piano and I could tell - it's time to clean it up!
I'm absolutely loving the yellow tulips/blue kitchen combo - gorgeous!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
