Even though it was the holidays, there were still people working at our house off and on over the past couple of weeks. However, I decided to condense them into one post, as not as much happened as in previous weeks.
We spent a couple of days last week packing up our kitchen, and some more of Rachel's room, in preparation for the kitchen demolition, which we think is starting today!!! Mom, Dad, Rachel, Dave, and I all spent various amounts of time packing up, turning the dining room into a "kitchen" space, and getting ready to move Rachel into our room. You can see the randomness of some of the last boxes in the photo on the right :)
Dave and I spent a few hours one day taking boxes and more furniture (from Rachel's room and his home office) to the storage unit. It turns out we underestimated how much stuff we would need to store and we had to rent a second (smaller) unit. It looks a little empty right now but we still need to move our boxes of Christmas decorations and Rachel's bed here. Also, I got a picture of Dave at his desk and then we put more stuff in front of it.
So that's where we are at as of today. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, I'll try and blog about our kitchen setup.
Here are some learnings from these past few weeks:
I shared some of the cookies Rachel and I baked with Janice and Tessa with the workers. I think they enjoyed them! (Thanks to Holly who gave me the idea.)
Even though we aren't moving, it feels like we are -- a lot of packing, sorting, decision making -- I had some serious decision fatigue last week as we packed up the kitchen.
I am still SUPER EXCITED about the powder room floor. I love it so much!!! It's so fun to see choices we made start to be put in place and I can't wait to see our new kitchen come together!
The mess is hard to live in/with, but it is looking SO GREAT! So excited for you!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! That powder room floor is gorgeous! Getting a storage unit is genius and will make this process so much easier for you- just love following along!
ReplyDeleteThat powder room floor is gorgeous! Oh I absolutely remember getting decision fatigue when we built our house... so many little details I never, ever thought about and then I'd be expected to come up with a fairly quick answer or risk dragging out the work. It was exhausting but it will definitely be worth it in the end.
