Disney Cruise 2025: Galician Delights And Continued Cruising

On these two days of vacation we explored more of Northern Spain, in the area known as Galicia, and then we enjoyed the last of our "at sea" days. We stopped in La Coruna, Spain but immediately jumped on a bus to head further into the country. Our first stop was at the Monastery of Sobrado dos Monxes. This is a stop for pilgrims on the Camino Santiago, plus a medieval monastery, so it was very interesting to visit. The monastery was very simple in terms of being made mostly of stone but very intricately carved.

We also enjoyed exploring the gardens. I think Sam may even have found a cat!
These were signposts for people walking the Camino. This is something my mom has wanted to do for awhile so we started talking about maybe doing it together. I just need about two months off work in the spring as I think it would be too hot to walk it in the summer.

We stopped at a small town for a break. Sam tried out my dad's walking sticks.
The thing I found most interesting about this town is that they had no grocery store. Instead they have a "grocery van." Yes, all this is located inside a van. It was very cool to see but I can't imagine coming here for groceries!
Then we stopped at a farm where we saw (and got to pet) farm animals...
...and we got to sample their various cheeses, chorizo, and wine. We were also served soup. There was a lot of wine served to us at this lunch!
Rachel got to try making cheese by hand. And then we ate the cheese she'd made. It was very cool to see and I wish I could have tried to make some. However, there wasn't enough cheese to go around and so it was mostly the kids who got to make it.

Back on board, Mom and I danced to the pre-dinner music. Then Dad decided he couldn't sit out and he and my mom danced!
After dinner the kids went to the teens' club and Mom and I went to the champagne bar. I didn't like the one on this ship as much because it was very dark, as opposed to light and airy like Pink on the Fantasy. However, they had the same drink that I loved on our last cruise so I was excited to get it again! Dave and Dad went to the Irish pub for beers.
The next day was our last day on the ship and an "at sea" day. We relaxed, we played a round of mini golf, we rode the Aqua Duck, and we packed up. As we sailed towards England, it was colder on deck, so we watched a movie and ate pizza while wrapped up in the fleece blankets.
Our final night was at Animator's Palate where we got to draw people. It was fun seeing them up on the screen!
We also took some final pictures with a view :)
We love a cruise and it was extra special to have Oma and Opa join us on this one. Stay tuned for our adventures in England, which I'll start writing about tomorrow (I hope)... We had a very good few days in London to end our vacation.

  3. I know a fellow blogger that walked the Camino in her 60's (I believe it was... I know she was "older" than most others on the trail and walked it alone). I've always been intrigued with the idea but it all falls apart for me when I realize how much I'd have to carry in my pack. That trip sounds like it was just wonderful!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
