What's Up Wednesday: June 2018

It's What's Up Wednesday time again so it's time to fill you in on some of our happenings.

What we're eating this week... Our CSA started last week and I could not be more excited!!! Whooo hooo!!! Bring on all the fresh veggies, eggs, and locally grown flowers. Okay, we don't usually eat the flowers :)

What I'm reminiscing about... Dave and I got married ten years ago on Friday, so I've been remembering the time around our wedding for about a month now. I loved our wedding day and marriage has been a bigger adventure than I could have imagined!

What I'm loving... Sam has played in the same ball league for three seasons now. The first year he didn't know anyone. Last year we asked one of his friends if he'd be interested in playing and word got around. Sam knew three other kids on his team. This year seven kids from his school were on the team. They finished first in their division but won the consolation prize in the playoffs. We had a party for these boys on Saturday night and it was so fun to celebrate them!

What we've been up to...We hosted our dear friends from Kenya for a few days. Rachel turned 7! Sam wrapped up his ball season. There's been a lot going on :)

What I'm dreading... I'm dreading having to wade through all the schoolwork which has been coming home this week. Every day it's been piles and piles and, eventually, I'll have to go through it all. Blah.

What I'm working on... During the school year I work 15 to 20 hours a week. In the summer I only need to work 10 to 15 hours a week. So this last week of school, I am trying to take advantage of getting all the work done so that I can slow down (a little) for the next two months.

What I'm excited about... Tomorrow is finally the last day of school around here. I'm so excited for our summer routine.
The kids on the first day of school,
almost ten months ago.

What I'm watching/reading... If you've read around here for any length of time you will know that we don't watch TV, but sometimes I have other things I'm watching. This month however, unless you count watching the piles of schoolwork grow, I haven't been watching anything. Ha!

However, I have read some great books this month. My latest favourite is the one below where the author write letters to various books. I LOVED it! If you want to see what else I've been reading, you can check out my last book related blog post here.

What I'm listening to... As always, I've been listening to the Blue Jays on the radio. Currently, they are holding on against the Astros. Go Jays!!!

What I'm wearing... I don't know that I've been wearing anything exciting. I'm just enjoying my skirts and t-shirts and shorts, you know, all the summer clothes!

What I'm doing this weekend... We've invited a few dear friends over on Friday night (our actual anniversary) for a party. I can't wait!!! It's also July 1st, Canada's national holiday, so we'll hopefully watch some fireworks on Sunday.

What I'm looking forward to next month... I have a bunch of travel in the works. First, Dave and I are going on a getaway to celebrate our tenth anniversary. (And I can't wait!!!!!) Then the kids and I are flying to Saskatchewan to spend a week with my parents and celebrate my aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary. In and around that, the kids have two weeks of VBS and I'll be participating in the 24in48 readathon. It's going to be a busy month!

What else is new... I can't think of anything else. We're just holding on until the last day of school which, in case you have forgotten, is TOMORROW!!! Bring on summer!

  3. I'm really excited to read the Fahrenheit 451 book. Also, we were at Hershey Park this week and there is a rollercoaster with the exact same name, so I looked it up and the rollercoaster name was indeed inspired by the book Fahrenheit 451. Huh! Of all the things to name after a book... a rollercoaster!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
