So the last time we had an extra day, Rachel was nine months old and Sam was almost three. Let's just say, life was a wee bit different then! You can read about our last February 29th, in 2012, here. So what did we do with our extra time this year?
We did have a little extra time to have Dave take a picture of us as we headed out.
After school, Sam and Rachel took some time to play War, Sam's new favourite card game.
Rachel and I took some time to put together a few pieces of IKEA furniture. Now my reading nook has a side table and a light. Yay!
Rachel took some extra time to practice taking pictures with our DSLR. I thought she captured some good moments. Ha! I especially like the viewpoint of me putting together the side table above.
Since we have three home reading programs we are currently doing (Sam has French and English and Rachel just started English), we took some extra time at supper for the kids to read to us.And then after we got back from doing groceries, it was extra special that Opa was willing to FaceTime just so he could tell one of his unique bedtime stories. This past summer my dad created a whole town of interesting characters and tells stories starring all these characters. Sam, especially, loves these stories.
And then Dave went to bed at 8:30 and I spent some extra time reading and finished two books.
And that was what we did with our extra day this year. Did you do anything special for February 29th?
I didn't even think about doing a leap day post. I love to see where you all were at 4 years later. Looks like you all enjoyed your extra day together.
ReplyDeleteWe did a lot of thinking about the leaps we're taking in the upcoming future. Sounds cheesy, but we're excited for the rest of the year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun leap day! I just looked to see what, if any, pictures I unintentionally took on the 29th. Well, Mattox did learn to clap so I have that video. I guess it wasn't a complete loss. Haha! Glad you guys made good use of your extra time!
