Temple Tykes

This past Sunday morning, we participated in the first "Temple Tykes" program at TBO. This is a new monthly story and craft program aimed at pre-schoolers within the TBO community, and so was right up Sam's alley.

The theme of the program for Sunday was Noah's Ark. The program started with the leader, Jennifer, reading a version of the Noah's Ark story. The story was aimed at kids a bit older than Sam, so Natasha had to "translate" as Jennifer went along, but I think he got the gist of the story.

After the story, it was time for the kids to create their own arks out of styrofoam, construction paper, and lots of stickers!
Sam and Natasha, starting to create Sam's ark.
The finished product -- definitely well-decorated, and hopefully sea-worthy...

... because the next activity was actually floating the arks in a small tub of water, and seeing how many animals could fit in each ark.
Sams' ark is launched! Sam has started to place animals in the ark -- two-by-two, of course :)
Rachel looked on with interest.

Finally, the program ended with everyone singing the "Arky Arky" Noah's Ark song (not "Who Built the Ark?"... you know... the other one!).

All in all, it was a very fun activity for Sam, and we're looking forward to next month's installment, focusing on Joseph's coat of many colours.
