It wasn't until late in the evening on February 10th that I even remembered about a "10 on the 10th" post. By that point everyone was talking about the impending storm which was set to arrive on Thursday (February 13th) so I decided to postpone my picture taking until that day, hoping it would be a somewhat interesting day. I'll let you determine if this day was interesting or not!
My picture taking didn't get started until about 8:30am because a snow day was called the night before!!! This almost never happens in our board and I was so excited to get to sleep in!!! This is our table, complete with dying tulips. I wanted to switch our dining room to Valentine's Day before the day was out.
Dave did a first round of shovelling and then, while he went to work, Rachel and I went out for another round. Can you see Rachel behind the pile of snow in the picture on the left? How many shovels can you count in the picture on the right? (There are four in that picture, and yes the two of us used all four of them!!!)
This is the winter of the icicle. We were talking at work last week how many icicles are hanging from all the eaves this year.
Look how much snow we shovelled! (Of course, this was before this past weekend's storm dumped another bunch of snow on us. Blah.)
We had some oranges which were slowly dying in our kitchen so I made fresh squeezed orange juice. Yum.
Rachel baked some Valentine's cupcakes. They were soooo good!!! She dyed them pink to make them extra festive.
After all that shovelling, I crawled under a blanket with a fresh muffin and a good book. It almost made all the shovelling worth it. Almost.
It was book club night which is one of my favourite nights of the month.
I intended to take a picture of the whole dining room but I forgot and just took a picture of the Gerberas on the festive tablecloth instead. Dave tried to find tulips but the grocery stores have been hit and miss with them this year.
So that was our exciting snow day -- lots of shovelling, muffins, and reading.
That is a lot of snow!! We haven't had nearly that much this year (no complaints from me!) but I'm still over what we've had. Looks like a most lovely day with impressive icicles! - Bekah
ReplyDeleteSorry you couldn't find your trademark tulips but those daisies are so pretty! Those muffins look insanely good too- I would say it was a productive and yet relaxing day-great job with the snow- crazy icicles here too this year!
ReplyDeleteOur school wants to stop calling snow days the night before, which makes sense if the snow isn't set to start till the night or the morning, but when you can tell the day is already going to be bad, it's nice to know ahead of time for sure!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Check out those icicles!! Love the valentine's cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice cozy snow day!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a snow storm!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of shoveling! My son does our plowing with a small tractor so he's able to scoop up all the snow on our front walk using that and has really saved me on shoveling this year. But we do have lots and lots of ice and icicles everywhere. Those gerbera daisies are very cheery too!
