It's another edition of 25 questions. I am (very, very, very!) slowly working my way through them. As a reminder, I got the idea for this from Sarah at Toronto SAM and you can see her answers to today's questions here. My first set of answers was back in January and you can see them here. My second set of answers was in February and you can see those here.
11. If life stopped today, what would you regret not doing?
Having good flossing and brushing my teeth habits. I wish I had worked on these habits more when I was younger. Other than that, I don't regret much of anything. Certain things in my life were beyond my control (when Dave and I met, when our kids were born, etc) and I feel like for other things (travelling, jobs, habits, etc) that were within my control, I did what I could to make them happen.
12. Who would you like to connect with? Why?
I would like to connect more with the neighbours on our street. We know a few of them quite well and others not so well. We're a small street and I'd love to host a street party. I have some ideas for doing this and just need to find the time. Hopefully this spring or summer we'll be able to make that happen. Do you all know your neighbours well?
13. What qualities do you admire in others?
People who are even tempered and can keep their heads in a crisis. I am trying to get better at this, and earlier this fall when I had to call 9-1-1 for a student at work, my principal commented on how calm I was under pressure. I had 9-1-1 on one phone and a teacher who was with the student on the other, while also trying to contact the parent, so it was a bit of an intense situation. Anyways, we're all going to run into situations in our lives when keeping a cool head is helpful, and I want to be one of those people.
14. What practical skills do you wish you had?
Basic plumbing and house construction. I'm so thankful my dad has been around to change out our kitchen tap or replace our back screen door when it fell off, but I wish I had more of those skills myself. Dave and I are not do-it-yourself kinds of people and I wish I was. Maybe that's something I'll learn when I retire?!?!
15. Imagine you're in your 90s. What memories do you want to have? What stories would you like to tell?
I want to tell stories of our family memories -- of watching Sam play soccer and baseball and Rachel at dance, funny stories of family life, and interesting moments we had on our family travels. I want to talk about the great books I'd read which gave me a new perspective on things or taught me something important. Hopefully, all of the stories will centre around love -- love for family, love for our world, and love for other people.
So those are my answers for these five questions. Hopefully it won't take me another ten months to get to the next five!
This was beautiful to read- I got choked up because the things I want to remember our very similar XO
