Share Our Lives: Favourite Smells

It's been a bit since I've linked up with the "Share Our Lives" bloggers but I want to get back into more regular blogging and I love these link ups! The "Share Our Lives" bloggers are Sarah, Dara, Joanne, Adrienne, and Jen. (Click on each name to go their blogs.) This month we're sharing our favourite smells and it's a perfect prompt. On Saturday, I mixed up the first holiday potpourri of the season and Rachel commented, "NOW it smells like Christmas!" Smells just make things better. I decided to organize mine seasonally, to give them some structure.

1) Winter Smells

Holiday Potpourri and Cranberry Tea -- both heavy on cranberries and cinnamon
Fresh fallen snow has such a great smell! And I struggled with where to put pizza (I eat it all the time) but it's especially satisfying on a cold, winter day.

2) Spring smells

Clearly, fresh dirt is the best spring smell! I love smelling dirt in the spring as I work in my yard or plant flowers in my window boxes.
I also love the smell of a greenhouse in the spring. It's warm and reminds me that warmer weather is coming!
BBQ is such a spring smell to me. You know spring has really arrived when it's warm enough to BBQ.
And I love the smell of freshly, mown grass. And lilacs. You will notice that despite my love of flowers, not many of them have a smell which I really love.

3) Summer smells
The ocean (or any beach) and sunscreen! I can't think of many summer smells.

4) Autumn smells
Muffins baking always remind me of autumn because we bake them the most that time of year. Fresh bread is a year round smell but it's especially good in autumn with soup as the weather gets colder.
I love a cup of black tea with milk and sugar, or Earl Grey with just sugar, especially when it's colder and this smells so good to me.
Leaves have their own unique smell and I love smelling them in the autumn.

5) Every day smell
Every single day I have two cups of coffee-hot chocolate and it is my favourite smell in the morning.

So those are some of my favourite smells. This was a fun topic to blog about. What are some of your favourite smells?

  5. I love the smell of a BBQ, even walking by someone else's house when they are cooking, but especially when it's my own house!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
