Week 24: Goals For The Next Month

This is a part of the 30 Week Writing Challenge and, for some reason, I completely skipped over Week 24. Oops... I'm not sure how that happened. But this is a good time to make goals for this coming month, especially since I've decided this year that I'm not really making resolutions. I read Mix and Match Mama sometimes and she does monthly goals and I decided to approach my New Year's Resolutions like that this year.

The only New Year's resolution that I'm making for the year, as opposed to a monthly goal, is to do a Project 365 366 again. I really enjoyed it the last time I did it and I've missed it this past year. I didn't take as many pictures and I want to remedy that. So check the blog every Sunday for my weekly 366 post. Also, one of these years I may do a Project 365 that is actually a 365 but this (leap) year doesn't appear to be it :)

Okay, so all that said, here are my goals for January:

1) Throw Dave a birthday party and work on getting his present arranged. (I know what I want to get/do for him but since he reads the blog I can't share it on here yet.)
2) Get our Christmas/holiday cards sent out. Yep, still haven't done this yet, but I'm betting I can start a new trend of sending out cards in January. Ha!

3) Get our yearly calendars done, which also means I have to go through all of our photos from this past year so I might as well add...

4) Print out pictures from the past year.
5) Go though the playroom and our bedroom. Clean them up. Get rid of things. We went through the playroom this past Sunday and it makes me smile every time I walk into it. I'm still putting this as a goal though, because it was a January goal.
playroom, before
playroom, after
(so much better)
6) Cut back to one Coke every other day. I don't want to admit how much I am drinking these days. And that doesn't even include other forms of caffeine (I'm looking at you coffee-hot chocolate). Of the four days in January thus far, I've only had one Coke and two "lack of caffeine" headaches so I can tell that, while necessary, this goal is going to be a painful one.
7) Get a thank you card to our neighbour for the slippers she made all of us for Christmas.

8) Send out (really late) birthday and Christmas presents to our nieces and nephew.

9) Have a really great, and relaxing, time at our church's winter retreat.

10) Go with the whole family to a Siskins' game. We haven't been to one in a few months and I'd like to go again soon.
11) Have a fresh bouquet of tulips in the house all month. January is tulip month in our grocery stores and I LOVE them. They make me happy, especially in one of the coldest months of the year.
As you can tell, my January goals are a lot of catching up on things I should have done a lot earlier. I'm hoping that by the end of this month I will have good news to report and I won't feel so far behind on life. Plus I'll have had happy flowers all month. It's a win-win-win situation!

  1. Oh sister, I feel your pain on the coke! I mostly gave it up for the program I'm doing right now {I think I've had two partial ones in the past month} and it is no joke!! You can do it!

And I have friends who send out New Year's cards instead of Thanksgiving cards. I say BE A TREND SETTER!! :)

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one going through painful Coke withdrawal. It really is the only thing I am addicted to.

  2. Your pictures look really organized. I should probably print out more to put in the photo albums. My sister-in-law used to do scrap-booking so I should probably ask her. :)

  4. Yikes, that's a lofty list for January. I find it really hard to get motivated to do a lot in January, but I like that it is usually a slower month with the exception of Eddie's birthday. I hope you are accomplishing all of your goals!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
