Sew Patriotic!

What do you get when you take one piece of patriotic fleece...
...and one sewing machine, along with a very patient and knowledgeable friend?
Two adorable children in patriotic pajamas!!!
At our last small group, one of the teens was wearing a fleece onesie her mom had made for Christmas. I asked Shirley if I could pay her to make a couple of pairs for Sam and Rachel. Shirley said that if I bought the materials she would coach me through making them. So I took her up on her offer.
Yesterday afternoon Rachel and I landed on Shirley's doorstep and one trip to the fabric store later (to get more supplies), along with some tea, chocolate chip cookies, and patience, we ended up with two pairs of pajamas. I did the majority of the cutting and sewing, including one zipper (the easy stuff), and Shirley did the other zipper, the placing of the patterns, and the pinning of the pieces in their proper places. Plus she provided the sewing machine and some figurative hand holding :)
Shirley also whipped up these really cute sleeping bags for Funny Bunny and Buzzy Bee! She is a sewing genius.

I just love snuggling with my patriotic sweeties! They are so cuddly :) And silly.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
