Rachel's First Day Of School

Rachel had her first day of Junior Kindergarten yesterday. She was completely excited, as you can tell from these pictures!
In fact, it was hard for her to keep still. She was soooo ready to go!
However, when it came time for her to line up with her class and actually head into the school, she had my finger in a death grip and I had to pry myself away from her hand. She looked so little and forlorn heading into the school that I lost it. Thankfully she didn't see me. And I stopped crying about thirty seconds later.

She seemed to have a good day at school although she claims, "I didn't talk very much at all, Mommy." I'm not sure I believe her :) And I think she made a new friend. She has eight years left at this school so I sure hope she makes some good friends, finds her way, and learns a lot. That's not aiming too high, is it?

And, for the first time, here are Rachel's answers to the "Back To School" questions.

Name and Age: Rachel, 4 (Normally she responds with all four of her names and leaves people a little confused!)

Best Friend: Daddy and Mommy. Elsa and Anna in the video. (Frozen.)

Favourite Colour: Pink and green.

Favourite thing about school: I like snacktime. And playing time. And cleaning up.

Favourite book: Bunny. (Me: Which Bunny book? Rachel: Bunny where he gets caught. No! Don't write that one down. It's too scary.)

Favourite game: Scrabble, but most of the time I like to play Sorry.

Favourite thing about the summer: Being babysat and going to Saskatchewan. (Her first three answers were "School! Playing in the leaves! Fall!" I think we need to work on her understanding of what "summer" is.)

What do you want to be when you grow up? A construction worker.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
