On Saturday morning, we participated in The Runway Run at our local airport. It was the first time they had ever had this run and it was a lot of fun. I did the timed run and Dave and the kids did the fun run. I felt just okay about how I did. It didn't help that a six year old boy, who was doing the fun run (which started five minutes later), finished before me. Ha!
Dave mostly pushed Sam and Rachel in the Chariot but they did run for a little bit. However, Rachel did tell one person that she ran for 5 miles! Considering the whole run was only 2 miles, it was quite the accomplishment :)
I consoled myself about my performance by reminding myself that I did way better than everyone who didn't even come out and run. I realize that doesn't make a lot of sense, but I felt better about how it went! I loved the t-shirts for this run and you may see it about a million more times here on the blog.I fell asleep in the car on the way home and lay down for a nap. Thanks to a headache, and being extremely exhausted from the week, I pretty much slept for the next six hours. That was the only part of the weekend which wasn't extremely awesome.
On Saturday night, the kids convinced us to drink our family Cokes.
Yes, I opened my precious bottle of Coke with my name on it. Full disclosure however: I may have a couple of... reserves :)
For our anniversary we were going to go canoeing but since it was only 15C (60F) and raining that day, we opted to go rock climbing instead. I was telling my friend, Karie, that we wanted to go canoeing this summer sometime and she wanted to go too. So we had another fun double date yesterday.
We were out on the river for about three hours and it was a gorgeous day. We laughed A LOT and just had a really good time. Dave "steered" and I put that in quotation marks because we ended our day like this:
Of course, this just caused a whole lot more laughter and you can see Dave and I are totally losing it in this picture. After our paddle, we went out for sushi. We ordered a ton of food and ate it all in about twenty-three minutes! What can I say? We were hungry. After supper, which I didn't eat because I was still stuffed from lunch, our family headed outside to do some yardwork. Mostly this involved mowing the lawn (twice!) because it was so long it was almost impossible to mow the first time. Plus, we had to rake the grass in between which we normally don't do, but we filled two yardwaste bags from our back lawn alone.
Then we watched the 1993 Blue Jays season video and I was reminded of this great ad. I still remembered all the words! And I've pretty much been singing it for the last three hours because, obviously, it is a classic. Or an earworm.
What a great weekend!! I am still in love with that airport run. HOW FUN!!!!!! Good job doing it, no matter your time, and any run deserves a 6 hour nap, I say! :)
ReplyDeleteYou definitely get an A for effort with the airport run!!
ReplyDeleteI was just canoeing the grand last weekend. So shallow it was hard not to hit rock bottom!
Seriously awesome weekend! Rachel's comment on running 5 miles had me laughing!
ReplyDeleteYay for the road race! I'm so proud of you. :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go on your race! That truly does sounds like an awesome weekend fill will awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend for all. You inspire me to want to do a fun run even if I would be the slowest person out there because I am so out of shape. Haha! And thanks a lot for getting that Coca-Cola commercial song in my head. :-P
