Five (About New York City) On Friday

So I'm not actually going to link up with "Five On Friday" but I will steal the idea! (Maybe next week I'll stop "borrowing" other people's ideas and start writing original blog posts again, but no promises!) So here are five things about our day in New York City.

1) Grand Central Station is huge. And overwhelming. And magnificent. And hard to take a good picture of.
2) Playing on The Big Piano at FAO Schwartz is always fun, no matter how old you are.
3) Burping seals are not only amusing to three year olds. I laughed pretty hard too!

4) Taking pictures of fast moving penguins, through glass that is covered in water droplets, is exceedingly difficult. Also, penguins really smell. Thankfully, they are entertaining enough that you soon forget how awful they smell because you are too distracted by their cuteness.
5) I think Sam is adorable, whether he is pretending to be a rabbit, a turtle, or a spider. Also, Rachel hates posing for pictures.
5) Part 2) I really like this picture of a goldfish I took at the Central Park Children's Zoo.

  1. Penguins smell bad??! I didn't know that. How disappointing. They are the rare exception to my bird hate, so it's sad to find out something so negative about them.

  2. You know, I've never noticed the penguins at our zoo smelling bad. Maybe their smell gets drowned out by some of the other animals. ha! Looks like y'all had a blast in New York. I think I'll have to put it on my list of places to visit.

  3. I do remember that the lighting in Grand Central and the one in Washington, D.C. were both not great for photographing. Grand Central is really a beautiful building. Eddie and I visited NYC in the coldest winter months so we really want to take the boys in a warmer season so we can enjoy Central Park. We also didn't get to FAO Schwartz although we did enjoy the big Toys R Us in Times Square. So many things we need to do with the kids when we go. Your penguin pictures made me think of the movie Happy Feet when the penguin gets caught and put in the zoo. I am sure the penguins are very happy there, but the movie makes it seem kind of sad.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
