A Well Watered Garden

It is the time of year when I am wondering "Where on earth is Spring?" (I know that the literal answer is "in the Southern US" since so many of you posted about your lovely Spring weekends but that's another topic!). Outside it is grey, snow is falling (granted it's a spring snow, mixed heavily with rain), and it's cold. I want sun! I want grass! I want flowers! I am ready for the renewal after a long, snowy, hibernating winter.

And the same is true in my life. I am ready for spring. I am ready for renewal after the winter. My scripture verse to memorize for the rest of this month focuses on gardens. I love that my grandma underlined this verse because she was all about gardening. She planted her last garden at age 103 and we calculated that she gardened for about ninety-five years of her life -- either with her mother or on her own. That's a lifetime gardener. And having lived through The Depression as a farmer's wife in the 1930s she well understood the meaning of having a well-watered garden in a sun-scorched land.

Isaiah 58:11

The Lord will guide you always;
He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.

  2. Oh I love it! What wonderful promises contained in that little verse! I really wish I could send you some Spring, but I know it is coming. Right now, we are in the middle of a cool, rainy week so it isn't much better. :-)

    1. Thank you! This verse really spoke to me and I think that is part of the reason why.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
