The Rest Of My April Reading

This week is "catch up" week on the blog. I have a few posts I've wanted to write for awhile and this is the week for those posts. So let's throw it back to the end of April and do a book post.

While the premise of this book was interesting, the book itself was just...okay. Let's just say, I was not tempted to read the next book in the series.

This book was our book club pick for April and it was...interesting. I am a fairly omnivorous reader, as you may have guessed, but horror is just not my jam. And this was horror. If you're into horror, you might like this book but otherwise, give it a hard pass. If it wasn't a book club book, I probably wouldn't have finished it. (Sidenote: I recommended it to Dave and he loved it!)

I don't remember where I found out about this book but it's definitely a book to read in 2025. I see a lot of people reading it. It was okay but I didn't love it. It's a bit of a twisty suspense with, what I thought, were way too many characters.

Okay, I honestly don't remember much about this book but I remember I really liked it. Abby Jimenez has become a trusted, go to author for romcoms, and they never fail to entertain me.

I never read this book when it came out, and with the release of Sunrise on the Reaping I wanted to read it. I enjoyed it, especially the introduction of the Covey.

Sorry to everyone out there who is an Elin Hilderbrand fan but I just don't like her books. They are a little boring and formulaic and I only have room for one of those authors in my life (JD Robb!). This was another one I picked up in trying to read her Nantucket Summer series.

I also don't love Laurie Gilmore. This was the second book of hers I read and I thought it was just... okay. I have a couple of book friends who love her books but they're just not for me.

So that was what I'd read through the end of April.

April total: 19

2025 total: 69

  5. I think I said nearly the same thing about Memory Man! I'm not tempted to listen/read to any of the rest in the series either. And I felt the same way about God of the Woods. I really enjoyed Truly Yours and I love the Hunger Games books; though admittedly Songbird & Snakes was my least favorite. Sunrise on the Reaping though was a huge favorite for me. I love that so many old characters are brought back and made relevant.

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
