This past week was both Rachel's birthday and her Grade 8 graduation (and she had two sleepovers in a row), Sam was sick (boo) and it was his last week of school, and Dave and I were just trying to hold all the things together! It. Was. A. Week! So here I am on Saturday afternoon, watching a Blue Jays game, waiting for the rain to pass so I can hang a load of laundry, and catching up on some blogging.
Here are my favourite moments from the past week.
1) Getting Rachel grad ready
The night before his Grade 8 grad, Sam asked if we could buy him a suit. Since it was a Sunday night, we said, "No." Rachel wanted to go all out for her grad, and gave us lots of warning! So on Saturday I took her to get her nails done. Thursday afternoon I took the afternoon off work and our hairdresser did Rachel's hair too -- loose braids and curls. Rachel had taken the time to find inspiration photos and she was thrilled with how everything turned out!
2) Art On The Edge walk
Last spring I joined an art walking tour through our downtown. (I wrote a bit about it here.) On Saturday afternoon I joined another one and was super excited that it was all about the murals which had just been installed on patios downtown. Many of the artists actually came and talked to us which was so cool. And it turned out that one of the artists was someone I've worked with at the school board. He was as surprised to see me as I was to see him!!!
3) Getting my annuals planted
On Sunday afternoon after church I planted seven planters full of annuals. I was so happy to have my hands in the dirt and to get a chunk of my plants dealt with. (I planted more this past Saturday so just have 12 left to deal with.)
4) Walk with Tim & Janice
Tim & Janice dropped by on Sunday night and we were able to enjoy a nice walk with them. It was great to catch up and get some walking in too!
5) Pictures from my parents
My parents are on a trip with their best friends and I have been loving their daily photos. They are in an area where there are tons of lupines blooming right now and those pictures have been some of my favourites. After this past winter of dealing with my mom's health, I'm thrilled that they get to enjoy some travelling now.

This is going to be our busy week with grade 8 grad on Wednesday. Rachel looked great!!
