Right now Sam has soccer two nights a week and I've really been trying to prioritize going to watch him play. This might be some of the last soccer he gets to play in a league, as he's aging out, and I want to enjoy it. Last Tuesday I had two appointments and on Thursday I had one and a visit with Janice and well... there went my week. I spent as much time as I could outside this weekend and what with Rachel's birthday and her Grade 8 grad coming up, there went my weekend. And that is all a really long winded way of saying, "That's why I only wrote one blog post last week and my Favourite Moments post is only showing up today."
I think that, given how cold and dreary our spring was, and how long our winter felt this year, if I can be outside right now, that's where you'll find me. But that is not conducive to blogging :) Dave commented the other day, "I forget how much you want to just be outside when nice weather hits" as I convinced him to drag his lunch and supper out to eat with me. Hahaha!
Now on with my favourite moments from the past week.
1) Dance Studio Gala
Rachel's dance studio had a 50th anniversary gala last Friday evening. It was semi-formal so it was fun to get a little fancy and dance and celebrate. I really love our dance community and this was a special evening out with them.
2) Disc Golf with Dave
Dave and I had some kid-free time on Saturday so we played disc golf at a new course. It was very accessible and easy to play -- unlike some of the courses we played last summer! We both really enjoyed it.
3) Church on Sunday
I ended up being the only person in our family to go to church on Sunday. I sat with some other women my age who were also there on their own. It was so fun to be there together with them and to feel surrounded by my friends. And the service was so good too. Then I walked home, while reading my book club book on my Kobo. It took me almost two hours but it was the most lovely day for a walk!
4) Sunday afternoon with a friend
My friend asked me if I wanted to go for a walk on Sunday afternoon, and since I'd already planned to walk home from church, I said no. So she walked over to my house and we visited in our backyard for over three hours. It was so good to spend time with her, catching up, and since we're both in the throes of raising teenagers, we talked about that as well :)
5) Flowers
I was really excited to walk by this patch of lupines on the way to one of my appointments this week. I also really noticed peonies this week, and now I am re-imagining our yard and trying to figure out how to add lupines and more peonies to it! Hahaha! I really need to just go live on a flower farm!
6) Walk with Rachel
Dave had to unexpectedly go into Toronto for work on Wednesday so I convinced Rachel to come to soccer with me. We went for a quick walk and I really enjoyed talking to her. We also spotted a deer!!! And then we drove Sam's friend home from soccer and went through the Tim's drive thru because we were all hot after soccer/walking.
The small brown splotch in the middle of the middle picture is the deer :)
7) Walk with Janice
I enjoyed a lovely walk through the woods with Janice one night and we found more peonies. I haven't spent enough time with Janice lately, due to a variety of reasons, so it was so nice to have a whole evening together!
So those were my favourite moments from last week -- lots of time outside, lots of time with friends, and some fun too!
What amazing favorites! Don't blame you with wanting to be outside as much as possible right now- I feel the same way because it has been sooo rainy and cold...just weird! Enjoy that time! Rachel's dance celebration sounded like a blast and you both look lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou had some lovely moments.
ReplyDeleteI can see why these were your favorite moments. They get me in all my feels too. Do y'all have soccer teams through the school there?
ReplyDeleteThose are some really wonderful favorites! I've been trying to spend lots and lots of time outside lately too. Or as often as I can when the weather bothers to cooperate.
