Today's Not Just A Mom link up is about favourite family memories. I thought a lot about this one because honestly, our absolute favourite family memories are all documented here on the blog under the "Where We've Been" tab. I could just link to our travels and be done with this post :) Plus, Dave and I have talked numerous times about how random family memories are captured on the blog and how meaningful that is. However, I did ask each family member what their favourite family memories were and here is what they said.
Rachel: Travel, especially our Disney Cruises! I really like being overseas and exploring new places.
Rachel at the Southernmost Point in Key West, Florida 2018 * Rachel at Eagle Beach, Aruba 2020
Sam: I loved the Disney Cruise with Oma and Opa and going to Blue Jays Winterfest.
Disney Cruise, 2020
Blue Jays WinterFest 2019
Dave: I like summer trips to Saskatchewan, our trip to Kenya, visits to New York to see family, traveling up to the Yukon and Alaska to see friends, and fun events in our city -- the Lumen festival, CANStruction and other community events.
walking across The Brooklyn Bridge, 2019 * CANStruction, 2019
Carcross Desert, Yukon, 2019 * Watson Lake Signpost Forest, 2019
visiting Saskatchewan, 2020 * breakfast on safari, 2017
Natasha: My favourite memories with my family are made when we're exploring somewhere, kind of like going on field trips as a kid. Whether it's wandering around New York City or Toronto or somewhere in our city, I love discovering something new with my kids and Dave.
Oh, and readathons! I love doing readathons as a family!
New York City, 2019 * San Juan, Puerto Rico 2020
Blue Jays WinterFest 2019 * Blue Jays game 2019
Victoria, BC 2019
Watching the Raptors in our town square, 2019 * Coldest Night Of The Year walk in our city, 2020 * Skating on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, 2020
Distillery District, Toronto, 2019 * Glow Gardens, Toronto 2019
checking out local artwork, 2020
checking out local forests, 2020 and 2021 Readathons
So those are some of our favourite family memories. We can't wait for Covid to be under control or disappear or whatever is going to happen with it because we can't wait to make these kinds of memories again! Although we can do some of these things, we definitely miss Blue Jays games, festivals and fun in our city, and traveling.
Until then, we have the blog (and photo books and photo albums) to help us relive those memories we've already made.
Linking up with the Not Just A Mom bloggers:

ReplyDeleteI love that everyone was able to answer! My kids just said Disney.
ReplyDeleteOh what fun trips you have taken- loved following along! I bet you can't wait to get back to traveling again!!
ReplyDeleteWe are soooo looking forward to being able to travel again. Maybe by next year???
DeleteHow nice to look back on those memories. I know we are making different kinds of memories during these various lockdowns, but I do miss travelling so much!
ReplyDeleteYes, if it weren't for Covid we wouldn't have known how much we love going for walks in the woods but we do really miss traveling.
DeleteI love that you asked everyone their favorite memory. So many wonderful trips you have taken
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be interesting to hear what the rest of the family thought. Often, it's only my voice on the blog.
DeleteBut think of all the memories you've made being together - I know everyone cant wait to get out in "real life" again but those will be precious memories too :)
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of all your traveling. I hope we can start traveling more!
ReplyDeleteWow you have been to some really cool places! I love that you asked each family member what their favorite memory was. Those will be so sweet to come back and read a few years down the road :)
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to read what each kid thought of. And yes, we've had some great opportunities to travel which we've appreciated so much.
DeleteI love that you asked each person what their favorite memories are too! My family usually responds with "I don't know..." so I've stopped asking. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMy family is usually still happy to respond to blog questions which makes posts much more interesting!
DeleteYou all have REALLY traveled the world...amazing! Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThe photos of the 3 of you reading and walking are just adorable. And I love the close up of Rachel in her bathing suit. Didn't realize she had such a darling sprinkle of freckles. Cute babies, mama!! Love the photo of everyone in their pirate garb. Such a precious family!!
ReplyDeleteI think my family's favorite memories would be during our travels as well. I do love that blogging makes remembering all those things so much easier.
ReplyDeleteI love how you organized your post with everyone sharing their favorite memories. How special!
