The Weekend What

This past weekend was a weird mix of being busy and completely crashing (for me). Way back about a year ago I had a cavity filled and it took almost two hours and my jaw started to spasm while they were working. Then the spasm thing happened again when I was just getting a cleaning in December. So I had another "smaller" cavity done on Thursday and I had been so nervous about it. Well, I got through it without my jaw going into spasms but I had such a neck ache and headache all weekend. I think it was the stress surrounding my appointment and then the tension releasing after being in an awkward position while my cavity was being filled.

All this is to say, I basically went to bed at 6pm on Friday night; I even voluntarily missed my women's night out at church which is rare for me. I had planned on taking a small break, reading and eating supper on my own, and then I was going to house clean. Well, I basically didn't move after getting into bed. Ooops.

Saturday morning I had already planned to redeem my gift certificate for a pedicure. It was supposed to happen while Dave and the kids were at synagogue but then Rachel's class was cancelled and Sam was too sick to go. But I kept my appointment and got a lovely relaxing pedicure. And then when I went to pay I realized I'd forgotten my wallet at home. I was sooooo embarrassed but the people were totally understanding (they didn't even keep my camera and iPad as collateral as I had offered to leave them) and I went home to get my wallet and then came back and paid.

And then after lunch I lay down on the couch for "a few minutes" and, accidentally, ended up napping for two hours. Then I gave Rachel a special pedicure and manicure.
On Saturday evening, I took pictures of Willem's birthday party. It was a baseball themed party at an indoor ball field we have in our city.

Tim said it was the most relaxing party he'd ever hosted!

I think Willem had a good time and it was so much fun to be the photographer. I took almost 250 pictures so I'm hoping I captured some good memories!
Tim took video of me taking a picture of him. I remember when my dad and uncle used to take pictures of each other taking pictures of each other!
And then after the party, Rachel and Sam came in to get cupcakes and they enjoyed sprawling/playing on the field. You can see Sam near the pitcher's mound in the picture below.
On Sunday I woke up with a really bad headache so I went back to bed and we ended up skipping church, which was sad. After getting a few more hours of sleep we went to Tim and Janice's for our care group. Even though not everyone could make it, we had a really good time visiting.
While our Sunday supper was baking Dave and I spent some time in the kitchen and made a chickpea salad, South Georgia caviar, did a bunch of dishes, and I cut up a pineapple. It felt like a productive hour.
After supper we went grocery shopping, because it was the only time it actually worked out to go all weekend, and Rachel was super excited to see a "Funny Bunny!" I love that our grocery store always makes seasonal pictures out of the pop cans. This one also had "Happy Easter!" written out but I didn't get a picture of that.

And then I accidentally stayed up until three am reading a book. I'll tell you about the book later this week, but let's just say I thought it was "around midnight" and was shocked to discover it was 3am.

  1. Sometimes it feels like our bodies just shut down on us, right? It's always frustrating, but I always try to take it as a gentle reminder that I need to rest! Hope you're feeling better!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
