10 On The 10th: July 2021

This past Saturday was July 10th, so as has been my practice for the past year and a half or so, I am sharing ten pictures of our day.

Around the corner from our house is a small bakery and every Saturday from spring through fall, they host a small local market. This past week, a friend of ours was selling her jewellrey so we went to check it out.

On Thursday, Rachel's pet fish, Bluey, died. He had been with us since November 2017 so he was over three and a half years old. We knew he was getting older and sicker. However, it was still a hard loss. We buried him on Saturday and Rachel wanted to bury him in the front yard because "Bluey loved people and would want to still be in the midst of everything." This is very true.

We made our Summer Fun List a few weeks ago but I had just jotted down ideas in the back of my planner. So on Saturday, we wrote it out in colourful letters for everyone to see. We need to get moving on it :)

At the market, I bought a huge bunch of flowers. They remind me of the centrepieces on the tables at our wedding reception. We just bought a huge mix of garden flowers and my mom and aunt made bouquets in mason jars.

Rachel wanted to make rainbow grilled cheese for lunch to help her feel better after we buried Bluey.

She did a great job and we used gel food colouring to get really vibrant colours.

After some down time, we were back on my favourite path to go pick up an order from a local store. We also had treats from the bakery around the corner to sustain us on our walk.

We had BBQ and CSA for supper. The grilled zucinni and onions might have been my favourite part of the meal! YUM!!!

We ended up picking up another puzzle while we were out. We hadn't done one in awhile and this one was particularly difficult.

And that was our July 10th -- not too much exciting going on for a Saturday -- just a mix of relaxation and buying a few things from local businesses.

  3. Rainbow grill cheeses! How fun! I love your summer fun list. I miss having younger kids (in a way) that they are always anxious to do 'summery' stuff.

    1. Thank you! The rainbow grilled cheese is made with mozzarella and we usually make grilled cheese with cheddar but Rachel LOVES it.

  9. I am so sorry for Rachel's loss. Pretty sure Bluey was well loved. Darling sandwich. Is that food coloring on the grated cheese? So cute. Hope it cheered your baby girl.
Great, great, great idea to put your summer activity list on a white board so you are reminded of it. I need to at least print mine out. I keep forgetting what's on it!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
