Mother's Day Preschool Tea And Other Things

On Friday, Sam's preschool invited the moms in for a Mother's Day Tea. It was lovely. There was a colourful sign and a list of why the kids loved their moms. Sam loves me because I "take him to Conestoga Mall!" Ha ha ha!!!
The room was so nicely set up with tables, flowered napkins and white carnations in food colouring which had soaked up some of the colouring. I don't normally like carnations but I am totally getting a bunch of white ones to dye different colours. So pretty!
Sam was not feeling the photo love and did not want to pose with me for a picture. So I gave up. The kids recited a poem which I did not get a picture of 'cause I was all teary eyed. Then they served us banana chocolate chips muffins which they had made. Then we got presents!
The gift bags were decorated, there was a card, a picture of us (Sam knows just what I look like!) and a necklace. The heart has Sam's fingerprint in it. He has insisted that I wear it for the past three days and I have been thrilled to oblige!
Yesterday we woke up with half an hour to get to Sunday School and managed to make it in time -- only half an hour late! Rachel and I crashed at home for the afternoon while Dave and Sam entertained themselves. We had a brief Mother's Day photo shoot using the flower Sam made me at Sunday School as a prop (and after looking at the pictures I changed my shirt because I didn't like how it made my arms look!). I called my mom to wish her a happy day. Then we had a pizza supper with Tim, Janice, Tessa and Willem and watched videos of our trip to Vienna. We had planned to work in Tim and Janice's yard all afternoon but it snowed and was awful weather so hopefully we can do that next week. Oh yeah, and Sam, Dave and I covered all the annuals (or brought them inside) so they wouldn't freeze overnight.

Basically we had a good (if somewhat rushed at times) family day with a little bit of relaxing time for me! And now it's back to normal life where being a mother is just something that is a regular part of life, much like blogging or reading or folding laundry. Only it's (usually) a lot more fun and rewarding.

  1. Sounds like a good Mother's Day, and I can't wait until Davis is old enough to answer questions like why he loves his mama :) I'm sure it will be interesting!

  5. Aren't those preschool mother's day parties and gifts the best? This reminds me of last year's with Evan except they made strawberry shortcake for us. Brody brought home a sweet gift this year for mom. I love all the pictures and am so glad you had a wonderful mother's day. I am about 6 posts behind in blogging so who knows when my mother's day post will be up....maybe by July? Sigh!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
