Duck, Duck, Goose

I lived close to the same park for nine years as a single young adult. I spent many hours in that park reading, walking, tossing a frisbee around with friends, and watching tons of families come with their young children to toss bread to the ducks and the geese. I was so envious of those families. I so badly wanted a husband and children and it felt like time was passing me by. Last weekend when Dave accidentally dropped half a loaf of bread on our basement floor I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. Earlier this week we went to the exact same park and tossed bread to the ducks and the geese. And this time it was me going with my own family! Sometimes, with lots of patience and prayers, dreams really do come true.

I know I don't have a huge blog following (it still amazes me that anyone besides my mom and some in-real-life friends read this blog!) but I want to ask those of you who do read this post to remember those people today who are still waiting for their dreams of a husband (or wife), or of kids, or both, to come true. With tomorrow being Mother's Day, I think our focus can easily turn towards those for whom this is a Happy! Joyful! Celebratory! occasion, and the people among us who don't find Mother's Day a joyful holiday, for one reason or another, are forgotten. Please remember those people for whom Mother's Day is hard -- either they have lost their mother or their child, they don't have a good relationship with their mother or their child, or they have not yet seen their dreams of becoming a mother realized. Thank you.

  7. Such a sweet post! It is always good to remember those who don't have what we take for granted!
I love that you feed the ducks. I take everything we don't eat like ends of the bread loaf or taco shells left over and feed our deer. We literally have a herd of deer year round and I love to feed them what I can. One year after a hard freeze, there were no acorns and we bought corn but that got SO EXPENSIVE! Love watching them...never gets old!

Thank you for being interested in my life as I blog it and for leaving a comment. Comments make me happier than reading a good book and drinking a cold Coke. Almost :)
