Friday Favourite Moments #17 & #18 2026 On A (Very Late) Tuesday

It's been awhile since I've written a Friday Favourite Moments post but I have still been gathering my favourite moments each week. So even though it's well past time for last week's moments, I wanted to share the moments from the two weeks before that. The moments I am writing about happened between April 24 and May 8. I will try and post about last week's favourite moments tomorrow.

I thought this entire post would be about dance but I did have some non-dance related favourites in these weeks. (I did start trying to write this post on my phone while watching a dance rehearsal but I wasn't very successful.)

1) Visiting Tessa and Andrew’s goats

You all know I’m not an animal person so I was shocked how much I enjoyed playing with the goats. I even let Scout sniff my face and Tip jump off my back!!!

2) Games at church

We attended a church games night (mostly at the kids' impetus since Dave and I were tired) and there was ice cream, there were good friends, there were games -- it was actually a lot of fun!

3) Setting up the deck

We got furniture on the deck, we got more pots of flowers, we cleaned. Now we just need good weather to enjoy it. We did manage to have our first supper on the deck a few weeks ago and it was so great!

4) Starbucks and errands

We walked a few errands and stopped for Starbucks and it was really fun! I love living close enough to walk everywhere.

5) Work treats

You know it will be a favourite every time a co-worker brings work treats. A few weeks ago two co-workers brought treats and it was excellent!

6) Dance, dance, and more dance

Getting to watch most of Rachel's rehearsals, and volunteer at her shows, was a definite highlight of my weeks. I'm so thankful she still lets me take pictures of all her costumes! Performance weeks are crazy but so much fun!
Seeing Rachel dance on pointe for the first time was also a definite favourite moment! I may have cried :)

7) Birthday treats

My birthday was overshadowed by dance but Rachel did buy me the Starbucks that morning (on the way to the shows) and I got Dave to buy me those gorgeous roses that night. And as you will see in a future blog post, my birthday celebrations were merely postponed a little :)

8) Reading on the deck!!!

The week after the dance show I mostly caught up on sleep but one afternoon it was warm enough for me to live the "reading on the deck with a drink" dream. It was glorious and I can't wait for more warm afternoons.
So there are two, rather belated, weeks of favourites. I'll try to have this week's post for you tomorrow but we shall see as Sam and I both have hair cuts and I might be too tired after to write anything.

Currently: May 2026

I'm late to the game but I really didn't want to miss out on linking up with "Currently." After a week of dance rehearsals and shows, and then my allergies hitting hard, last week I went to bed super early every night to catch up on sleep. It was pretty much the most boring week ever -- work, sleep, repeat. So I didn't blog at all. Anyways, this link up is hosted by Amy at Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa and you can find her here.

[Digging]

Amy defined this as "literally, or the 70s version meaning 'loving'" so I'm going with the "loving" definition.

They were selling roses for the dancers at Rachel's show but I told Dave to buy me some for my birthday! He bought these and I have been "loving" them.

"Walk every day in May" is back with Shay at Mix and Match Mama and, since I love to walk, I've been participating. Mostly, I've just been walking to work and back but sometimes I get an extra walk in. I have been "loving" being more intentional about walking.

[Weeding]

Again, Amy defined this as "Literally or 'cleaning out'" so I went with the "cleaning out" definition. We have been "weeding" through everything in our old living room in preparation to turn it into a guest room. This really got really dusty during the renovation so, not only do we need to go through everything but it all needs to be cleaned too. This has been a family project, but we're getting there.

[Enjoying]

I've been "enjoying" every spare moment where it's nice weather, and I have no plans, to sit on the deck. Last week that worked out to one hour on Monday afternoon. But it was a great hour!

Since the weather's been cooler, my ranunculus planter has been putting on a show so I've really been "enjoying" that as well.

[Eating/Drinking]

We're still "drinking" a lot of iced tea. As for "eating," we're still eating a lot of pizza but we also had tacos for a Cinco De Mayo Taco Tuesday. How could we not?!!? :)

[Shopping for]

We've started "shopping for" a backyard project that will require a few trips to Home Depot but will make me very happy as it has to do with one of my favourite outdoor things! Thus far we've bought three different kinds of sandpaper. Stay tuned...!

So that's a little May "currently" -- lots of walking, allergies, and catching up on sleep. I'm excited we have a long weekend coming up so I'll try and catch up on the rest of the posts in this link up then.

Blog Birthday Takeover - Insert Clever Title Here

As is the tradition around here, I (Dave) waltz in on May 2nd to wish Natasha a very happy birthday in blog post form. While I have attempted to come up with various clever themes over the years, I decided to keep things simple this time and focus on some highlights from the past year, centered around a few not-too-surprising themes.

Travel

Exploring new cities with hop-on, hop-off bus tours! Cruise days at sea! Walks (and drinks) on the beach! Need I say more?

Home Reno
After many years of pondering, we finally took the plunge this year and tackled a major home reno. The process was somewhat long and surprisingly dusty, but we are very happy with the end result.
Baseball

The Jays had an amazing season last year, and came oh-so close to winning it all! We were so glad to be along for the ride, and to get to see some pretty amazing games in person.

Random Hodgepodge
A miscellaneous mix of photos that evokes other important aspects of Natasha's life over the past year:
 * walking along our neighbourhood path, and appreciating the wintry weather
 * enjoying a good book outside (while drinking a Coke)
 * celebrating Rachel's Bat Mitzvah with extended family from near and far
 * spending time with close friends, and finding fun things to do in our local area

Happy birthday, Natasha!
